ATTENDEES

F. Loughlin, S. Fritts, M. Kries, D. Schott, R. Berrie.  Committeeman B. Mueller.  Guest: R. Flint

The Regular meeting of the Recreation Commission was called to order by Chairman F. Loughlin at 7:35 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

A motion was made by D. Schott, seconded by S. Fritts to approve the minutes of the Regular meeting of August 1, 2006. All in favor.

MEADOW BREEZE PARK

1. Tennis Court Resurfacing Project - There have been numerous problems with the contractor disregarding the Contract specifications and directions from the Township Engineer, R. Miller. The three (3) items of concern are:
1. Improper sealing of cracks
2. Improper paving equipment - paver used was not equipped with laser-guided automatic      controls.
3. DPW was not allowed to properly stabilize the existing edge of pavement.
R. Miller has sent a letter to the contractor addressing these deficiencies.

2. Horseshoe Court Lighting - G. Castner of the Warren County Horseshoe Pitchers Club notified us that they won’t be using the courts at night anymore so having lights at the courts won’t be necessary.

OLD BUSINESS

Walking Path Extensions - P. deBoer has talked to R. Miller about not using mulch.
New Playground Equipment - D. Schott and S. Fritts brought with them a photo of playground equipment which they felt would be suitable for our needs. The purchase price is approximately $12,562.39 with an additional $8300 if we go with a rubber base. It will be decided at our next meeting if we want to order or not.

FINANCIAL & BUDGET REVIEW

A handout was provided by R. Berrie.

ACTIVE AREAS

Refreshment stand repair delayed because of weather.

PASSIVE AREAS

R. Flint has started work on a new trail at Roaring Rock Park. The riparian buffer is growing great, with all the rain we’ve been having.

NEW BUSINESS

Due to Election Day being on November 7, the date of the Recreation Commission November meeting date will have to be changed.  It was suggested that we hold it Monday, November 6, to be confirmed at the October meeting.

R Berrie has discussed with P. deBoer about a new way of draining the fields by using a special processing of sand on them.  He still has not received a schedule from WTYA soccer and there are still field issues that have not been solved yet.

Having no further business to discuss, a motion was made for D. Schott, seconded by S. Fritts to adjourn the meeting at 8:30 p.m.   All in favor.

Respectfully submitted,
