The Bureau of Fire Prevention's goal is to prevent fires by public education and inspections.

The State of New Jersey requires a smoke detector inspection and certification of any residential structures sold, leased or subject to a change of occupancy for residential purpose.

Note to realtors, attorneys and residents - a two week notice is required on all inspections. 

The Township of Washington (or Washington Township) has passed an ordinance #89-10, which requires all businesses in the Township who are not considered a Life Hazard to complete a Local Registration Form.
