Artillery Replacement site - set up to guard the Kings Highway (known as Spruce Run Turnpike) should the British try to capture Oxford forge - 1777-1778

American army marched the Anderson Asbury Road  near by in 1776, camping briefly at Springstown

Mansfield-Woodhouse Cemetery - Site of Logg Church built 1734 - first of three churches on this site.  The cemetery contains graves of Peggy Warne and 14 Revolutionary Veterans.  Margaret “Peggy” Warne was the first physician at Broadway NJ (just west of Washington Twp), who was a sister of General Garret Vliet, of the Revolutionary army.  She rode on horseback for miles to attend to local people. The Peggy Warne Chapter, D. A. R., was named ‘in her honor.
