In 2009 the Washington Boro Police and Washington Township Police departments joined forces to establish the Washington Police department.

Although relatively small, the agency provides many services: Arson Investigation, Community Watch, Crime Prevention, Criminal Investigations, D.A.R.E., K-9 and Traffic Safety are all areas that officers receive specialized training in.  There are also several officers trained as Emergency Medical Technicians (since they arrive first on the scene of medical emergencies they are able to provide basic life support until the emergency squad arrives).  With the recent purchase of a semi automatic defibrillator, they were the first police department in Warren County EMT-D Certified.

The Police Secretary is in Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm until 3:00pm.

Patrol  officers are a familiar sight in Township schools; DARE, bicycle safety,  Child Id, Eddie Eagle and police K-9 demo's are all programs conducted each  year.  Neighborhood Watch Programs also exist.

Officers each year  participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run which raises money for  the Special Olympics.  As well as PBA Local #280's annual Christmas Toy Drive for less fortunate Warren County Families.
